Chi – Ki – Prana

Dates: Apr 21, 2012 to Apr 22, 2012

Integrating vital life force in your practice and your life!

With Brad Thompson.                Gold Coast venue to be notified.

A workshop for students of martial arts, healing arts, or for those whose goal it is to strengthen internal energy. In China it's called chi...in Japan it's ki....and in India it is known as prana. It is the vital life force that exists in all living things and this program will focus on training the body and mind to unlock its power and to integrate it into one's life. Whether you have experience in any of the Eastern disciplines such as yoga, tai chi, qigong or martial arts is not important, anyone is able to participate and benefit.

Using elements of Feldenkrais Method and insight into Chinese martial practices you will learn to: • change your breathing and develop your breath;

• discover your centre to change and improve your posture in sitting, standing and walking;

• train your mind to be still and meditate;

• learn a simple yet powerful daily training routine that will become the platform for your health, internal strength and physical and mental wellbeing.

About Brad Thompson: Brad has been training and teaching Tai Chi, Qigong and Chinese martial art for over 30 years. He founded the Tai Chi and Qigong Academy in Melbourne in 1987 teaching thousands of students over 10 years in Victoria. He trained extensively in China; Traditional Yang Style tai chi kung fu with Master Fu Sheng Yuan, Chen style Tai Chi with Master Chen Xiao Wang. More recently he has trained in Wu Dao Gong kung fu, Yang Mien kung fu and the Hun Yuan Tai Chi system with Master Brett Wagland his long time friend and "tai chi brother" who is one of the leading authorities on Chinese Martial art in Australia.

He graduated from the first Brisbane Professional Feldenkrais Training in 1993 and has been practicing extensively since then mainly from the Golden Door Health Retreat in South East Qld. He has combined his knowledge of the Feldenkrais Method with his skills in Chinese internal arts to help people fast track their development in any of the Eastern disciplines and in 2008 authored"The Breathing Book - A Practical Guide to Natural Breathing". Brad still teaches and practices on the Gold Coast.

Mindful Movement and Stillness

Dates: Jul 6, 2012 to Jul 7, 2012

Movement is Life – without Movement there is no Life Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais

Mindfulness- the medicine for our age

The ability to move easily, comfortable and efficiently is essential for survival in our constantly changing environment. Whether it’s the ability to get out of the way of speeding traffic, sit for long periods at your computer, sleep deeply, shift from one point of view to another, or change your emotional state before dealing with the next issue; movement truly is essential to life. The use of mindful meditation techniques to find inner peace and stillness, is also increasingly recommended as an important survival skill.

In this workshop you will experience a combination of activities drawn from the Feldenkrais Method, NLP and the Mindfulness meditation approach, so you can learn to move more easily and effectively through the various contexts of your life. The ability to function optimally, depends on your capacity to think, move, sense and feel. You will consider the different combinations of movement, mindfulness and stillness required in the contexts of your daily life and strategies for easily moving between them.

Many people find it easier to pay attention to something that is moving rather than something which is still. Yet it is the attainment of an inner stillness that allows us to access the wellbeing benefits that come with living in the moment and mindful meditation practice. Recently published discoveries in relation to brain neuroplasticity, are demonstrating that the practice of mindfulness trains your attention. Attention combined with movement, are essential components in maintaining effective memory and cognitive functions and bringing about neuroplastic change. There is an abundance of research showing the benefits of meditation on health, healing and wellbeing.

This workshop is for you if you are someone who wants to:

  • Improve the comfort and efficiency of your movement.
  • Explore sustainable sitting, unwinding and sleeping
  • Learn strategies for moving easily between different mental and emotional states
  • Deepen your mindfulness practices
  • Discover some keys to your plastic brain
  • Increase awareness through your various senses,
  • Find the power and relevance of neuroplasticity

Your workshop leader will be Jenni Evans. Jenni has over thirty years of presentation experience with diverse groups of people. She is a certified Feldenkrais practitioner, internationally accredited NLP trainer and currently works at the Gawler foundation as the overnight therapist and meditation leader. Previous program participants have said “Jenni is an excellent presenter” “Jenni’s caring attitude is remarkable, she is a great meditation leader.”
